How to Program a Ford Key Fob

If you had to recently replace the keys to your Ford, you may now be wondering how to program a Ford key fob. Fortunately, Ford key fob programming is actually quite simple! The team at Tom's Ford has provided this helpful guide to the process, which can be performed right at home in your Middletown driveway. 

Most newer Ford vehicles feature a remote key fob which makes it easier to access the vehicle. Ready to learn how to program a Ford key fob? Read on to see just how easy it is! 

 

 

Ford Key Fob Programming – A Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Make sure that all doors of the vehicle are closed, then open the driver-side door. Press the UNLOCK button on the driver-side door. 
  2. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times. This step will need to be completed in 10 seconds or less to enter programming mode. If the step was successful, the door locks will lock and unlock. 
  3. Within 8 seconds, press any button on the Ford remote to be programmed. To confirm that the key fob has been programmed, the door locks will cycle once more. 
  4. If you have more than one key fob to program, press any button on the remote within 8 seconds to cycle the door locks. 
  5. The last step is to turn the ignition to OFF. You will know that the programming process is complete when you hear the locks cycle again.

How to Turn Off Ford MyKey

Many new Ford models are also equipped with Ford MyKey. While this feature can be beneficial for many Hazlet and Red Bank drivers, there may be times where you would like to disable its features. To turn off MyKey, your vehicle needs to be started with your main admin key or admin key fob. All you have to do after that is follow the steps listed below: 

  • Start the vehicle and wait for its computer and screen to turn on.
  • Press the left arrow button on your steering wheel-mounted controls to reach the main menu. 
  • On the main menu, press “Settings” after selecting “OK.”
  • After reaching the “Settings” screen, scroll until you find the “MyKey” option. Press “OK.”
  • Under the “MyKey” heading, locate “Clear MyKey.”
  • Select “Clear MyKey” and press and hold “OK” until the “All MyKeys Cleared” message pops up on your screen.
